Re-Elect State Rep. Jeff Taylor
on November 6th!
Jeff Taylor is extremely qualified to hold the office of State Representative. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Western Kentucky University and a Master of Arts in Community Counseling from the University of North Alabama. Jeff went on to complete the Basic Economic Development Course at the Georgia Institute of Technology and he also attended the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma. He is also a Certified Economic Development Finance Professional through the National Development Council. Jeff is a graduate of both Leadership Hopkinsville and Leadership Kentucky. There he had the opportunity to develop relationships with leaders across this region and state. Jeff intends to put those relationships to work for the residents of the 8th district.
Jeff Taylor has always been passionate about creating job opportunities for the residents of Kentucky. During his 31 year tenure as and Economic Development Professional at the Tennessee Valley Authority, Jeff held positions in public relations, marketing and community development. He is responsible for the development of the Quick Turn " Spec Building" Marketing Strategy which focused on rail.
Over the years, Jeff Taylor has proven to be very active in his community. He has served on the Board of Directors of Business Retention International, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Hopkinsville Minority Economic Council. He also served on the Western Kentucky Economic Development Council, the South Kentucky Economic Development Council, and the James E. Bruce Convention Center.
Jeff Taylor currently serves on the Labor Relations Committee of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Sanctuary Inc., and the Leadership Kentucky Board of Directors. Jeff is the Vice President of the Bryan Street Neighborhood Association and Chairman of the Christian County Democratic Executive Committee. He is also member of the Ft. Campbell Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
Along with being a successful Economic Development Professional and community activist, Jeff Taylor is a dedicated family man. He and his wife Deirdra raised their two children in Hopkinsville. Their children attended Christian County Schools and have recently completed their Undergraduate education.
Jeff ‘s education, professional experience, civic involvement and strong family values make him a perfect fit for re-election to the Kentucky House of Representative. Jeff was elected to the Kentucky House in March 2015 in a special election to fill an unexpired term. He served for a 9 month period and quickly gained the trust of his fellow legislators and constituents for his work ethic and tenacity.
He co-sponsored House Bill 40 in support of expunging felon’s records. He co-sponsored three bills in support of the military; college credit for time served, transfers of license to the public sector, and instate tuition.
He drafted legislation to limit opiate prescriptions and for Kentucky to adhere to the federal Real I.D. Laws. Jeff is endorsed by the State AFL-CIO, Kentucky Teachers Association, the People’s Campaign, Kentucky Professional Firefighters, and he is recommended by the State F.O.P.
